PURPOSE:To make it possible to automate the discharge of a medium and to carry out the continuous control of medium level by providing a water-cooled jacket and a downstream water cooled chute, further providing a ventilation duct to cool the high-temperature medium within an overflow device, and automatically controlling the height of the bed by a pressure within the bed and a differential pressure of a window box. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of burnt ashes and a fluidized medium 14 is cooled to a temperature of approximately 500 deg.C by means of a water cooled jacket 17 provided in an overflow device 2 in a manner of surrounding the outside thereof. The medium 14 which has been discharged quantatively out of the overflow device 2 by means of a rotary valve 6 is introduced through a water-cooled chute 7 to a medium conveyor 8 and returned thereto. The medium conveyor 8 is provided with a large number of buckets 18. The dimension of a liner plate 19 receiving the dropping medium 14 is determined by taking into consideration the effect of a thermal expansion due to the high-temperature medium 14. Furthermore, high-temperature air contained in the medium conveyor 8 is sent to a flue 15 through a ventilation duct 16. The medium conveyor 8 and a rotary valve 6 are automatically controlled and driven by a differential pressure meter 9 for measuring the bed inside pressure and the differential pressure of the wind box.
