PURPOSE:To align wire rods one by one toward the predetermined direction in a condition free from overlapping and entanglement by providing a direction alignment means at the last end of an alignment face. CONSTITUTION:Wire rods 2 discharged aslant from a hopper 4, overlapped and entangled with each other, are temporarily separated into independent pieces in the course of sliding down along the first and second guide plates 9 and 10. Then, the wire rods 2 while being lowered onto the alignment face 11A of an alignment unit proper 11, are aligned into a single layer free from entanglement via plate springs 17 and 17A. Furthermore, a balance between an air jet propulsion force from an air jet nozzle 22 and the weight of the wire rods 2 are used to align forcibly the wire rods 2 in a proper direction at the last end of the alignment face 11A, and each rod is separately arrayed toward the predetermined direction for transfer to a feed part. According to the aforesaid constitution, wire rods of small diameter and large length can be aligned so properly as to be free from overlapping, entanglement and irregular direction.
