PURPOSE:To enable machining of a shape steel having different length without moving an inverting device by holding the shape steel mounted on one of a drive arm or a driven arm rotatable around axes of two gears engagable each other then rotating the shape steel toward the other gear thus inverting the shape steel. CONSTITUTION:When a shape steel W is machined as required then inverted, rods 9, 9' of pneumatic cylinders 8, 8' are extended to start rotation of drive arms 3, 3' around rotary shafts 5, 5'. Consequently, upper faces 32, 32' of the drive arms make contact with the under face W1 of the shape steel W, and when the rods 9, 9' are extended furthermore, the shape steel W starts rotation. At the same time, driven arms 4, 4' having gears 41, 41' engagable with gears 31, 31' also start rotation in the opposite direction from the arms 3, 3'. When the rods 9, 9' are extended furthermore, the shape steel W is held between the arms 3, 3' and 4, 4', and the shape steel W is born by the arms 4, 4'. When the rods 9, 9' are shrinked from this condition, inversion of the shape steel W is finished.
