PURPOSE:To produce a molding material having excellent heat-resistance, by reacting a specific bisimide with a specific diamine and optionally a polyvalent maleimide in a low-boiling solvent under heating, compounding a filler to the reaction product ad kneading the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The objective molding material can be produced by reacting (A) a bisimide of formula I (R1 is >=2C bivalent group) (e.g. maleic acid N,N- ethylenebisimide) with (B) a diamine of formula II (R1-R4 are H, methyl or ethyl) (e.g. 3,3'-dimethylmethylenedianiline) and, if necessary, (C) a polyvalent maleimide of formula III (n is 0 or 1-5) at a molar ratio [A/B or (A+C)/B] of 2-5 in 2-methoxyethanol or 2-ethoxyethanol at 80-120 deg.C for 10-240min to produce an imide prepolymer varnish, compounding the varnish with (D) 100-200pts.wt. of a filler (e.g. glass fiber) based on 100pts.wt. of the resin and kneading the obtained mixture.
