PURPOSE:To select a homonym without providing a next candidate key and a selection key, by using a key top display area of a touch key in common with a KANJI (Chinese character) area of the homonym. CONSTITUTION:An LCD indicator is a dot matrix type indicator, and provided with the upper display area A and the lower display area B. On the display screen of the indicator, plural transparent touch keys are provided so as not to obstruct its display. On the area A, information inputted from a touch panel is displayed, and on the area B, information signified by the key is displayed at a position corresponding to the touch key of the touch panel. Also, the size of one touch key is a size which can display three small characters. On the area B allocated for a key top display of the touch key, a KANJI (Chinese character) of a homonym is displayed by a KANA (Japanese syllabary) in KANJI conversion processing. In such a way, even by a portable type character processor, selection processing of a homonym can be executed easily.
