发明名称 POWER TRANSMISSION DEVICE FOR FOUR-WHEEL-DRIVE VEHICLE
摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the length in the direction of an axle of a power transmission mechanism by making the input member such as a sprocket, etc. of a power transmission device of a transverse engine type vehicle perpendicularly intersect to an axle shaft while placing it in a plane which passes a differential gear between axles and a reduction gear. CONSTITUTION:A crankshaft 2a supports an automatic transmission 3 with lock-up mechanism in a laterally placed condition on the left side of a transverse engine 2 placed in the right-left direction of a vehicle, and its input shaft 6 is connected to the crankshaft 2a via a torque converter 5. And, a sprocket 7 as an output member is outwardly filtted on and supported by the input shaft 6 of the transmission 3. In this case, a sprocket 56 as an input member which is driven and connected to the sprocket 7, a front differential gear 34, a differential gear 45 between axles, and a reduction gear mechanism 39 are supported on an axle shaft 17 positioned on the side on which the engine 2 and transmission 3 are supported. And, the sprocket 56 perpendicularly intersects to the axle shaft 17 while being provided in a plane which passes the differential gear 34 between axles and the reduction gear mechanism 39.
