PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition free from phase-separation and having excellent mechanical characteristics, by compounding a polyphenylene ether resin, a polyamide resin, a specific aromatic compound and, if necessary, a rubbery substance and/or a styrene polymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is composed of (A) 100pts.wt. of a resin composed of (A1) 5-95wt.% polyphenylene ether resin produced by the oxidative polymerization of a phenolic compound of formula [R1-R5 are H, halogen or (substituted)hydrocarbon group; at least one of R1-R5 is H] and (A2) 95-5wt.% polyamide resin, (B) 0.01-30pts.wt. of an aromatic compound (e.g. pyromellitic anhydride) having (B1) at least one acid halide group, acid anhydride group, dicarboxylic acid group or halogen atom and (B2) at least one functional group selected from of acid anhydride group, dicarboxylic acid group, amino group and epoxy group and, preferably further, (C) 0.5-80pts. wt. of a rubbery substance and/or a styrene polymer.
