PURPOSE:To attain recording without information loss even for picture information more than the size of recording paper by recording picture information on plural pages splittingly when the picture information by one page is more than one page of recording paper and printing out additional information onto each page. CONSTITUTION:The picture information is inputted sequentially to an input line memory 1. A CPU 4 transfers the picture information to a buffer memory 5 one by one line from the memory 1 via an input control circuit 2. In this case, the CPU 4 allows the built-in line counter to be counted at each line transfer and when the count reaches one recording paper page, the input of the picture information is interrupted via the circuit 2 to add print information (e.g., Page 1-1) of the split page from a character generator. Then the input of succeeding picture information is started, the similar step is executed and when it is finished, information Page 1-2 is added. The picture information subject to split edition is sent as recorded information from an output line memory 6 by the control of the output control circuit 7.
