Lighting appliance having a fluorescent tube carried by a fitting. Protective endpieces 1 are provided on the ends of the tube 5 in order to make the appliance conform to Class II of the EN.60.598 standard. Each endpiece 1 is in the form of a cylindrical insulating pot having a side wall 11 concealing the cap of the tube 5 and a base 12 fitted with pins, including a female part towards the inside of the pot and a male part towards the outside. <IMAGE>
