PURPOSE:To improve self-discharge performance, long-term shelf performance and overdischarge standing characteristics by adding alkaline earth metals to electrolyte through the use of Pb-Sb alloy which containing a kind of Na, Li, K and Sn. CONSTITUTION:For example, Pb-Na-Sb-Sn quarternary alloy used for a grid is prepared by adding Sn, to improve the overdischarge standing characteristics, to Pb-Sb alloy containing a kind of Na, Li and K, which has comparable liquid- reduction characteristics with Pb-Ca and small self-discharge and grid elongation. Alkaline earth metal ions, e.g. MgSO4, are selectively added to electrolyte to keep the conductivity. Self-discharge characteristic, long-term shelf performance and overdischarge standing characteristics are thus improved. |
