PURPOSE:To surely extract a clock even in a high-speed searching state by supplying a fixed clock to a PLL circuit in a prescribed period before a clock is reproduced from a 2nd area. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 1 incudes a 1st area where the information to be reproduced is digitally recorded together with a clock used for reading the information and a 2nd area preceding the 1st area. Then the medium 1 is driven at a high speed. The clock reproduced from the 2nd area is extracted by a PLL circuit 11 before the information is reproduced at the 1st area. At the same time, a fixed clock is supplied to the circuit 11 in a prescribed period before the clock is reproduced from the 2nd area. Thus the circuit 11 is quickly locked by a reproduced clock.
