STRUCTURE OF SLEEVE OF OPTICAL CONNECTOR

PURPOSE:To permit formation of a plastic cylindrical member and to improve economy by forming one end of an elastic sleeve as an aperture having the shape increased in the bore gradually toward the outside so as to provide a function to guide the other ferrule when said ferrule is fitted into the aperture. CONSTITUTION:The ferrule 8 inserted into a plug 5A from one end thereof is fixed to the elastic sleeve 9A made of a metal. The aperture 25 provided with the bore increased gradually toward the outside is formed to the other end of the elastic sleeve 9A. The other ferrule is guided by the aperture 25 by which said ferrule is adjusted in position and fitted when the ferrule is inserted into the sleeve 9A at the time of connecting the optical connector. Since there is no need for the cylindrical member 10A housing the sleeve 9A to deal with wear at the time of positioning, the use of the plastic to said member is permitted. The inexpensive optical connector having excellent mass productivity is thereby provided.
