摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of characteristics due to poor adhesion of an ion exchange membrane with an electrode and to eliminate voltage fluctuation due to gas formation by integrally molding the ion exchange membrane with a battery frame in a state of larger ion exchange membrane than the swollen one in the fuel, electrolyte or anolyte. CONSTITUTION:An ion exchange membrane 1 with a specific size is cleaned with distilled wafer 2 and keeping the state, it is situated between a battery frame 4 perforated with a square hole 3 for holding an air electrode and another battery frame 4' with a square hole 5 for holding a methanol electrode, and integral molding of them are conducted. At the stage, the exchange membrane 1 creases being induced by the pressure of molding. Next, by immersing in a 3 mole-sulfuric acid aqueous solution, which is a same concentration as in operation, together with the integrated battery frame 6, crease on the exchange membrane 1 which occurs at the integral molding is eliminated utilizing the difference of swelling rate of 2%, and a crease-free battery frame 6' is manufactured. Deterioration of the characteristics due to poor adhesion of the electrode caused by crease on the ion exchange membrane and the voltage fluctuation due to gas retention between the negative electrode and ion exchange membrane are thus prevented.
