The present invention relates to a composite magnet. This magnet is characterised in that it comprises a number of units combined together, each of the said units being formed by arranging a number of magnets which alternately define North and South Poles arranged on a plane which is perpendicular to the direction of magnetisation. The invention finds application in the treatment of various ailments.
