PURPOSE:To select and designate a destination without error with an easy operation at the time of transmission by finding the bar code of the destination of transmission from a map type bar code table and reading it with a bar code reader. CONSTITUTION:A Japanese map covering domestic branches of a company is prepared as a map type bar code table 13, and branch names are entered in places of respective branched on the map and bar code labels 14 are stuck by their sides. In case of transmission to a certain branch on the map type bar code table 13, a document is set to a reading part 4 and the bar code label 14 of this branch is traced with a bar code reader 11. Then, the bar code (telephone number information) read by the reader 11 is decoded by a decoder 12 and is inputted to a CPU 7. The CPU 7 receives this input to start an NCU 2, and the destination having the inputted telephone number is called. When a line to the destination is connected, transmission of the document is started.
