发明名称 MICROBIAL OXIDATION OF NAPHTHALENES
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an unsubstituted or alkyl-substituted salicylic acid at a low cost, by culturing a specific microbial strain belonging to Pseudomonas genus in a medium containing an naphthalene compound selected from unsubstituted and alkyl-substituted naphthalenes. CONSTITUTION:Pseudomonas stutzeri 5A (FERM P-9118) is cultured in a medium containing a carbon source consisting of a naphthalene compound used as a raw material or the naphthalene compound and other carbon compounds such as glycerol, a nitrogen source, inorganic salts, etc., at about neutral pH and 25-35 deg.C for 7-10 days and the objective unsubstituted or alkyl-substituted salicylic acid is separated from the cultured liquid. Salicylic acid, 3- methylsalicylic acid, 4-methylsalicylic acid and 4,5-dimethylsalicylic acid are produced corresponding to naphthalene, 1-methylnaphthalene, 2-methyl naphthalene and 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene used as a raw material, respectively.
