PURPOSE:To reduce the negative peak and to improve the influence of reading errors by attenuating by a prescribed extent the input approximation waveforms advanced and delayed relatively by the prescribed time against an input signal and at the same time controlling the half value width by a low-pass filter to add it to the input signal. CONSTITUTION:The isolated reproduced waveform of a thin film head of a waveform S0 includes a negative peak (a) earlier than the center peak by a time taua and a negative peak (b) later than the center peak by a time taub respectively. Here the peak of an output signal S5 of a low-pass filter 8 can be set at a similar level to the negative peak of the output signal of a delay line 3 by satisfying an equation I, i.e., tau1=(taua+taub)/2 and tau3=taud, where tau1 shows the total delay time of a delay line 1 together with tau3 showing the total delay time of a delay line 3 and taud showing the delay time of the low-pass filter 8 respectively. Then a waveform S5 obtained by the equation I is added with the output signal of the line 3 by an adder 5. As a result, the negative peaks (a) and (b) contained in the waveform S0 can be eliminated and the influence of reading errors due to said negative peaks is improved.
