A device as a standing or walking aid for temporarily or permanently disabled individuals comprises a frame with two or more wheels, a body support and a device, operated at will by the user, for changing the direction of motion. A frame (1) which extends approximately in a longitudinal mid-plane and a support, fastened on the frame (1) like a saddle (3), are provided for the body of the disabled individual and, furthermore, two or more wheels (2, 2a, 2b) are mounted so as to be freely rotatable on the frame (1). In order to change the direction of motion one or more wheels (2, 2a, 2b) are mounted on the frame (1) so as to be freely pivotable via a bearing (11, 12, 13; 20) having a vertical or approximately vertical axis. <IMAGE>
