The invention relates to a motor vehicle head lamp in which a reflecting paraboloid accommodates a light source which is arranged essentially along its optical axis and which is partially screened outwardly by a screening device. The latter preferably consists of plastic material and has a surface, facing the light source and the apex of the paraboloid, which is at least partially provided with total-reflection prisms which are used to interrupt radiation which is emitted in a direction essentially parallel to the optical axis of the paraboloid and to reflect said radiation onto the paraboloid.
