PURPOSE:To prevent a foreign matter from dropping etc. into a shift lever device without obstructing a select operation of a shift lever at all, by attaching a turning cover which has a size for closing up a long hole against a slide cover, and also, turns by the select operation of the shift lever. CONSTITUTION:A long hole 31 of a slide cover 30 into which a shift lever 10 is inserted so that a movement at the time of its select operation is allowed is closed up by a turning cover 40. In such a state,when the shift lever 10 is brought to a select operation by following a step-like shift operation groove 21, the turning cover 40 turns by following the select operation of this shift lever 10. Accordingly, this select operation can be executed without being obstructed at all, and the long hole 31 of the slide cover 30 is always held in a closed-up state by the turning cover 40. In such a way, such a state as a foreign matter drops into the inside of a lever device can be prevented.
