PURPOSE:To view the state of a magnetic field distribution formed in a narrow space like a slit by adding a hardening agent to magnetic liquid formed by dispersing particulates of ferrite, etc., adsorbing a surface-active agent in a solvent. CONSTITUTION:The hardening agent which solidifies a solvent is added to the magnetic liquid formed by dispersing particulates of ferrite, metal ferromagnetic body, etc., having the surface-active agent adsorbed on the surface to obtain a ferromagnetic material 2, which is injected into a slit type magnetic field space 1 through its opening 3. The injected ferromagnetic liquid material 2 has its interface deforming according to the distribution of the magnetic to form a spike-shaped pattern 8 on the surface. The solid body of the magnetic liquid material 2 is taken out of the space a hardening time later and the pattern 8 on its surface is observed to view the magnetic field distribution in the space.
