The response time of release devices of stationary fire-extinguishers with glass containers can be shortened by the use of special explosive liquids having a low thermal capacity and rapid heat absorption. In particular, low alkyl homologues of benzol such as toluol or o-xylol, or halogenated hydrocarbons, such as tetrachloroethylene are better suited to this purpose than conventional explosive liquids derived from alcohols. However, medium aliphatic hydrocarbons, low cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons, esters of keto carboxylic acids and low simple ketones may also be used. The fast reaction of the fire-extinguisher with glass container makes it possible to combat fires at an early stage and to use less water, thereby reducing the costs of the installation.
|
