[Also in Division B8] In a rotary duplicator for printing on sheets with whole page duplication and on sheets of narrower width with line by line duplication an electromagnetically operated blocking device is withdrawn from the feed table of the machine when whole page duplication of sheets is required. As shown in the drawings a feed table 1, across which a card 2 to be printed and perforated is fed in the direction of the arrow A to the duplicating machine, not shown, in association with a perforator device, not shown, is mounted on plates 26 and 27. The card 2 is guided by a stationary guide rail 7, mounted on the table 1, and by a guide rail 8, pivotally attached to the table 1, and constituting a blocking member which, in the operative position, shown in Figs. 1 and 2, prevents copy sheets larger than the card 2 from being fed to the duplicating machine. Two controls 9 and 10, secured to the rail 8, permit the cards 2 to be fed only one at a time to the machine when the rail 8 is in its operative position. In the position shown in Fig. 1, the rail 8 is supported by cross-bars 11, 12 and extends above the table 1 through an aperture therein. The bars 11 and 12 and a stop member 13 are secured to a shaft 16 and the stop member 13 abuts an armature 17 of an unenergized solenoid 18 and is maintained in that position by a compression spring 19. Switch means 23, 24 control the energization of the solenoid 18 and the printing operation effected by the machine. Switch 24 controls the energization of the solenoid 18, whilst the switch 23 controls the printing operation as well as controlling the energization of the solenoid 18. When the switch 23 is closed whilst switch 24 is left open, the duplicating machine effects selective printing of cards 2 fed to the machine. Since the solenoid 18 is unenergized, the guide 8 is in the position shown in the drawings and any copy sheets fed to the feed table 1 having a width greater than the width of the cards will be prevented by the rail 8 from being fed to the machine. If the switch 24 is closed, as well as the switch 23, the solenoid 18 is energized and its armature rotates the stop member in the direction of the arrow B. The guide rail descends through the aperture in the feed table. It is then possible to feed copy sheets larger than the cards 2 to the duplicating machine for selective printing. If switch 23 is re-opened whilst switch 24 remains closed, whole page printing of copy sheets is obtained.</p> |
