Housing device for interchangeable equipment units in electrical and/or optical communications. The equipment units have connections on their front sides for optical waveguides and/or coaxial cables which are not clearly guided in this area. The housing device of the aforementioned type is intended to be simplified and improved, particular importance being attached to secure and reliable retention and routing of the sensitive optical waveguides and coaxial cables. To achieve this object, a carrier which is roughly U-shaped in its longitudinal section is provided to house the slot-in equipment units, the carrier has at least one pivotable, curved carriage arm on the outside of its upper leg to retain the optical waveguides and/or coaxial cables, and the bending radius at the bending points of the carriage arm is equal to or greater than the smallest permissible bending radius for optical waveguides. The new design enables clear allocation of the respective slot-in equipment modules to the corresponding cables. The pivotable arrangement enables problem-free insertion and removal of the equipment units. <IMAGE>
