The invention relates to a process for isolating high-fibre and low-lipid fractions from spent brewer's grains, the wet brewer's grains being first suspended in water, preferably in hot water. The solids contents in the resulting suspension are then selectively comminuted and disintegrated in a high-pressure homogeniser. From the resulting mixture, the solids portion is then separated by screening into a high-fibre and low-lipid and low-protein fraction and a low-fibre fraction higher in lipids and proteins. The screening residue, leached with water, preferably with hot water, is dried and, if required, further treated in a known manner for further fibre enrichment. |
