<p>An anaesthetic scavenging face mask includes a cup-shaped respiratory chamber (10), a face seal (12), anaesthetic gas inlet (14), vacuum outlet (16), and connection channel (18). The face seal (12) forms a scavenging channel (48) which is connected to the vacuum outlet (16) by the connection channel (18). The respiratory chamber (10) has a grooved rim (42). The face seal (12) has edges (44) and (46) which enclose the grooved rim (42). The face seal (12) has holes (50) positioned to scavenge escaping exhaust gases and to create a suction to improve the seal of the mask against a patient's face.</p> |
