PURPOSE:To simplify assembling and adjustment and improve analyzing accuracy by directly connecting a rotary encoder to a pulse motor for rotating a diffraction grating, sliding outlet slits on the basis on the output of the encoder and selecting a prescribed spectrum. CONSTITUTION:A rotary encoder 26 is directly connected to a pulse motor 22 on one hand and an arithmetic controller 40 for calculating the spectral angle of a spectrum diffracted by a diffraction grating 8 on the basis of the detection output of the encoder 26 and controlling the sliding amount of a slit sliding mechanism 30 on the basis of calculated result are provided on the other hand. When the grating 8 is driven to rotation, a detection signal in accordance with a rotational angle is outputted from the encoder 26. The outputted detection signal is inputted to the controller 40, wherein the spectral angle of the spectrum diffracted by the grating 8 is calculated and, based on calculated result, the sliding amount of the slit sliding mechanism 30 is controlled. Accordingly, a prescribed spectrum is selected to be received.
