The clincher, for location beneath the PCB, has a pair of fingers (68, 69) mounted for movement toward and away from each other by driving a rack and pinion mechanism (76, 77) mounted on a housing (56). The housing can be rotated by a motor (59), raised and lowered by a piston (56) to position the clincher fingers, and moved by an X-Y table. The fingers are mounted to deflect about respective support pins when a lead is contacted and a sensor signals such deflection to indicate the presence of a component lead for checking the integrity of the printed circuit board. <IMAGE> |
