PURPOSE:To enable the circumferential direction of a laser rod to be uniformly cooled without reducing the excitation efficiency of the laser rod by providing a running water pipe that defines and forms a circulation path of a cooling water on the outer periphery of the laser rod, and a turning means for causing the cooling water to turn in the circumferential direction of the laser rod. CONSTITUTION:A laser rod 4 provided opposite an excitation lamp 5 within a condensing and reflecting mirror is placed in a running water pipe 10, a circulation path 11 is defined and formed on the outer periphery of the laser rod with this running water pip 10, and a turning means 21 for causing a cooling water to turn and flow in the circumferential direction of the laser rod is provided in an introduction section for supplying the cooling water to this circulation path 11. With this, even if the circumferential direction of the laser rod 4 is optically excited unevenly by an excitation lamp 5, the temperature distribution of the laser rod 4 in the circumferential direction thereof can be made substantially uniform by the cooling water turning in the circumferential direction of the laser rod 4, no interception of part of the excitation light from the excitation lamp occurs, and there is no reduction of the excitation efficiency. |
