PURPOSE:To form a sharp image without using an ink film, by impregnating porous layer with ink composed of an emulsion consisting of the first and second components different in interface energy formed in the presence of a nonionic surfactant having a cloud point. CONSTITUTION:A signal is sent to a heat generating part 4 to allow a heat generator 5 to selectively generate heat and heat is conducted to the porous membrane layer 1b and porous base 1a of a recording body 1 to separate the oil component of the ink infiltrated in the heat conducted part. The ink component based on the separated oil transmits through the porous membrane layer 1b to form an ink image. The ink image is transferred to a recording medium 3 to form an image. As a nonionic surfactant, one having a cloud point of 100 deg.C or less is pref. used in the case of an oil in water type (O/W) emulsion. In order to perform good recording, it is desirable that the interface energy of either of the first and second components is made larger than that of the second porous layer. |
