PURPOSE:To prepare a high-concn. coal-water slurry having excellent fluidity and storage stability, by adding an anionic additive to a high-concn. compsn. of coarse grain coal and water, wet milling the mixture, and adding a non-ionic additive to the mixture, followed by mixing. CONSTITUTION:An anionic additive 1, crushed coal 2 and water 3 are fed into a wet ball mill 4, in which milling is conducted so as to cause the coal to have a predetermined grain size. The milled coal is introduced through a conduit 5 into a collect tank 6. The prepared coarse slurry is introduced through a conduit 7 into a classifier unit 8, by which coarse grains are removed. The removed coarse grains are returned through a conduit 9 to wet mill 4. The coarse slurry after separation of coarse grains is introduced through a pipe 10 into a high-speed agitation mixer 12 such as a line mixer. A non-ionic additive 11 is added to the mixture. A product slurry is prepd. by mixing the coarse slurry under agitation and transferred through a conduit 13 to a storage tank 14 for storage.
