Novel carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula I

in which
R1 denotes an alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl or alkylamino radical, a cycloalkyl or cycloalkoxy radical, or an optionally substituted aryl, aryloxy, arylthio, arylsulphinyl, arylsulphonyl or arylamino radical,
R2 denotes an optionally substituted aryl radical or in the case in which B denotes an alkylene group, also denotes a hydrogen atom,
A denotes a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkylene group having 3 - 10 carbon atoms, which is optionally interrupted by a heteroatom and which has a chain length of at least 3 atoms, with the proviso that there should not be a heteroatom on an unsaturated aliphatic carbon atom,
Y denotes the groups S(O)n or O,
n denotes the numbers 0, 1 or 2 and
B denotes a valence line or a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms,
and their physiologically acceptable salts, esters and amides are used for the treatment of metabolic disorders.
