PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of error control by using a communication control LSI so as to apply the arithmetic operation and verification of check sum thereby relieving the processing load of software. CONSTITUTION:The communication control LSI is provided with a check sum generation and verification circuit, and the location of the check sum area is set in advance into the LSI 5. In case of the transmission, the check sum operation is applied to the corresponding area by using a packet transmission command only to the LSI 15 and result of check sum is loaded to the check sum area. Further, the check sum parameter in the reception packet is verified and the result of verification is stored in the status register of a control section 6 together with packet reception notice. Thus, the check sum operation is applied in the lSI automatically not through the software processing.
