PURPOSE:To obtain an antifouling paint which exhibits stably a sufficient antifouling effect over a long period of time, by blending a 1,4-naphthoquinone compd. with a specified polymer. CONSTITUTION:An antifouling paint contains a 1,4-naphthoquinone compd. of formula I and a polymer composed of a structural unit of formula III. In the formulas, R1, and R2 are each H, a 1-3C alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkinyl o a cycloalkyl; X is Cl or Br; X1 and X2 are each H, an alkyl or halogen; Y1, and Y2 are each an alkyl or an org. group of formula III (wherein n is 1-30; R3 is an alkyl or an acyl; R4 and R5 are each H or methyl). Examples of the 1,4-naphthoquinone compd. are 2-amino-3-chloro-1,4-naphthoquinone, 2- diethyamino-3-bromo-1,4-naphthoquinone, etc.
