PURPOSE:To remove irregularity in a getter film and to perform rationalization such as shortening of processes by mechanizing Ba evaporation process. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent character display tube 2 is automatically supplied to a supply conveyer 1. A table 8 is rotated while the fluorescent character display tube 2 is mounted on a jig 7, and when it is stopped at a position of a high frequency induction heating device 10, a jig guide 9 is operated to raise the jig 7 to approximate to a heating coil 11, and simultaneously a carbon rod 13 is lowered. Thereupon, a getter is heated so that Ba is evaporated on an inner wall of a vacuum container. Infrared rays radiated then are detected by a hot metal detector sensor 14, and its output is received by a controlling part 30 so that a high frequency induction heating device 10 is controlled there. When getter flash working is thus automated, irregularity in a getter film and that in heating time of the getter can be prevented.
