PURPOSE:To obtain stable traveling and to reduce the load of a drum rotating motor by smoothly leading an air flow generated by the rotation of a rotary drum into a gap between the outer peripheral surface of a head drum and a tape. CONSTITUTION:When a lower drum 12 is rotated, an air flow 47 is generated on the outer periphery and the outer periphery of the lower drum 12 and a winding end position part of a magnetic tape 8 are smoothly led from a V-shaped open position into a gap between a head drum 10 and the magnetic tape 8. Thereby, a proper air layer is formed between the head drum 10 and the magnetic tape 8 and frictional resistance between the drum 10 and the tape 8 can be reduced. Consequently, the rotation of the rotary drum and the traveling of the tape can be stable executed without sticking the tape to the outer periphery of the drum and the load of the drum rotating motor can be reduced.
