PURPOSE:To automatically perform the positioning of a work by automatically position-adjusting a positioning detection piece in three directions perpendicular to each other and coupling this positioning detecting piece with the work to perform the positioning of the work. CONSTITUTION:In a work positioning device, a positioning pin 38 is inclined by a swaying cylinder 35 to prevent the interference with a trolley conveyor 12 when a car body is transferred, the pin 38 is erected after the transfer, and the pin 38 is inserted into the drain hole 11a of the car body to perform the positioning. The first - third power cylinders 21, 25, 29 are operated in response to the transferred body to position-adjust the positioning pin 38, and the positioning of the body can be performed. The power cylinders 21, 25, 29 are constituted so as to adjust the pin 38 independently in three directions perpendic ular to each other.
