NEW MATERIAL:A diamineplatinum(II) complex expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 represent lower alkyl; X represents halogen atom or two Xs link with each other and represent a group expressed by formula II, III (R3 and R4 represent H or lower alkyl), IV or V (m is 1 or 2)]. EXAMPLE:cis-Dichloro-2,3-dimethyl-1,4-butanediamine platinum. USE:An antitumor agent. PREPARATION:A tetrahalogenate platinum salt expressed by the formula M2 Pt(Hal)4 (M represents atom capable of forming a monovalent cation, for example Na, K, Cs, etc.; Hal represents halogen atom) is reacted with a diamine expressed by formula VI preferably in a molar ratio of 1:0.9-1.2 at 50-70 deg.C to afford the compound expressed by formula I wherein the group X represents halogen atom.
