PURPOSE:To obtain the titled derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate for beta-nicotinamide-adenine-dinucleotide in high yield and selectivity, by reacting nicotinamide with a halogenated saccharide in the presence of an acid capturing agent. CONSTITUTION:(A) Nicotinamide and (B) a halogenated saccharide are, e.g. boiled, in the presence of (C) an acid capturing agent to afford the aimed derivative, such as nicotinamide rhamnopyranoside expressed by the formula. Furthermore, 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl bromide, etc., are preferably used as the component (B) and cadmium carbonate is preferably used as the component (C).
