PURPOSE:To shorten the time lag ranging from shutter releasing operation to the start of exposure and the time required until a visual field can be observed and to reduce winding operation noise by driving a motor at a high speed before the end of mirror-down driving and at a low speed thereafter. CONSTITUTION:A 1st driving mechanism 102 is driven by the motor 104 at high speed and when a quick return mirror 10 is driven downward and put on an optical path, a detecting means 105 detects that, thereby driving the motor 104 at low speed under the control of a motor speed control means 106. The motor 104 is therefore driven at high speed until the end of the down driving of the quick-return mirror 101 and driven at low speed after the end of the down driving of the quick-return mirror 101. Consequently, the time required when a subject can be observed through a finder after shutter releasing operation is shortened and operation noise generated by charging, etc., is re duced.
