LIGHT EMITTING DIODE FOR OPTICAL PRINTER

PURPOSE:To obtain a light emitting diode for an optical printer imparting a high-brightness clear contour through the change in luminous intensity with good productivity, by setting a thickness showing a complementary color with respect to the light emitting color of a light emitting part. CONSTITUTION:When the ohmic contact part of a discrete electrode 40 is provided to the almost central part of a light emitting part 20 so as to extend as a tongue-shaped part, the brightness of the center of the brightness distribution at the part directly above the light emitting part 20 is lowered since the tongue-shaped part 41 is composed of a light blocking electrode material. The curve (a) shown by a dotted line is obtained when an orange light pervious film is provided with respect to red radiation and a curve (b) is obtained when a bluish green light pervious film is provided and brightness is high in the case of the film of a bluish green being a complementary color. Further, there is sharp characteristic rising at an end edge since the contour of the light emitting part is sharply printed and printing quality becomes extremely high.
