PURPOSE:To prevent re-solidification of a molten slaggy residue near the residue outlet and achieve stable continuous discharge of the residue by a method wherein a part of the exhaust gas of a burner is sucked into a slag vessel together with the molten slaggy residue. CONSTITUTION:An incinerated residue 4 burnt in a waste incinerating furnace 3 is heated by a burner 5 to be brought into molten slaggy condition in a melting furnace 2 and this molten slaggy residue 14 is discharged into a slag vessel 6 through an outlet 7 for slag. On the other hand, a part of the exhaust gas 9 in the furnace 2 is sucked into the vessel 6 with the molten slaggy residue through the outlet 7 by a fan 8. Because at that time, the exhaust gas 9 flowing through the outlet 7 heats the residue 14 just after melting and flows in sealing the rising of water vapor etc., from the vessel 6 into the furnace 2, the residue 14 is prevented from again solidifying to close the outlet 7, and the residue is discharged into the vessel 6 through the outlet 7. The exhaust gas sucked into the vessel 6 is transferred to an electrostatic precipitator 11.
