PURPOSE:To enable starting of a vehicle in an optimum gear position according to a road surface state and a vehicle state, by a method wherein up and down shift positions are set to a control box, and when a gear shifting level position is up or down, a gear position is shifted to that up or down by one step. CONSTITUTION:Up and down shift positions are set to a control box 22, and when the position of a gear shifting lever 23 is situated in the above shift position, a gear position is shifted to that up or down by one stop. When it is decided by a microcomputer 21 that the lever 23 is shifted to an up or a down position, the gear position of a transmission 15 is shifted to a gear position up or down by one step and is shifted to 3-speed or 1-speed. This constitution enables selection of a gear position during starting through manual control, and enables starting of a vehicle in an optimum gear position according to a road surface state and a vehicle state. |
