摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a bactericidal lamp with no change in its output of ultraviolet rays even if the ambient temperature is changed by converting luminescent lines of rare gas atoms into ultraviolet rays near 260nm having a bactericidal effect with phosphors. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 30, 30' are provided on both ends of a discharge container 6 allowing ultraviolet rays near 260nm to permeate. When a discharge is performed across the electrodes 30, 30', luminescent lines of Xe of 147nm and 130nm are emitted by the discharge in the Xe of the low pressure. These luminescent lines of 147nm and 130nm are converted into the wavelength near 260nm with a remarkable bactericidal effect by phosphors 8 provided on the inner face of the container 6. Since the low-pressure discharge characteristic of Xe is not changed by the ambient temperature, ultraviolet rays near 260nm are not reduced regardless of the ambient temperature, i.e., at the low temperature and the high temperature. Accordingly, a bactericidal lamp with no change in its output of ultraviolet rays even if the ambient temperature is changed can be obtained.
