PURPOSE:To erase an erroneous data track by comparing field/frame identification signals of adjacent tracks so as to detect an erroneous data track and supplying an erasure signal to a head in press contact with the erroneous data track based on the detection output. CONSTITUTION:A detection circuit 38 uses an erasure start signal from an RSF/F42 so as to throw SW1, SW2 to the position of P. An SW3 is subjected to switching control at each field by a head switching signal, and reproducing signals of an outer track and an inner track are stored in corresponding memories 34, 36 as respective identification signals via a DPSK demodulation circuit 30 and an SW4 outputting a field/frame identification signal, the SW3, an amplifier 19 and a filter 24. The detection circuit 38 compares contents of the memories 36, 34 and whether an erroneous data track comes from the outer track or the inner track is detected by the comparison. The system control circuit 32 activates an erasure signal generating circuit 16 to supply an erasure signal to a head in press contact with the detected erroneous data track to control the SW1, SW2.
