Sample A is prepared by stirring EuS (0.04 mol %), Ce2S3 (0.05 mol %) in magnesium sulfate and grinding the calcination obtained after maintaining the mixture at 1100≦̸C for 4hr in the ambient of H2S and resulfurizing it at 1200≦̸C. Sample B is prepared by the above process of Eu2O3 (0.05 mol%), CeO2 (0.01 mol%) in calcium carbonate, but the mixture is calcined at 1300≦̸C for 4h. in air. A mixture of A and B is kept at 1200≦̸C for 5 min. in H2S and cooled slowly to 500≦̸C, to produce fluorescent body composed of [(1-y) CaS+MgS .
