PRODUCTION OF ARYLALKYLSULFONE DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE:To obtain an arylalkylsulfone derivative from inexpensive and readily obtainable raw materials in a short process and in high yield, by reacting a low active aromatic ring replaced with an electron attractive group with an alkylsulfonic anhydride in the presence of an acid catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic ring and/or aromatic hetero ring (e.g. benzene ring or pyridine ring) replaced with an electron attractive group is reacted with an alkylsulfonic anhydride shown by the formula R<1>-SO2-O-SO2-R<2> (R<1> and R<2> are aliphatic group). The reaction is carried out by using an acid catalyst shown by the formula R<3>-SO2R<1> (R<3> is aromatic or aliphatic group) to give the aimed compound shown by the formula Ar-SO2R<1> (Ar is aromatic ring and/or aromatic hetero ring replaced with electron attractive group). The amount of the alkylsulfonic anhydride used is 1-10mol. based on 1mol. aromatic ring and the amount of the acid derivative is 0.001-1mol.
