PURPOSE:To prevent the mixing of a signal from an adjacent track due to an off-track state by moving a magnetic head so that effective track width is small at outer circumferential tracks and large at inner circumferential tracks. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head is at the same position on the innermost circumferential track 16 as before and at a different on the outermost circumferential track 15. Namely, the moving direction of the magnetic head is dissident from that of a recording and reproducing gap 2. Therefore, the effective track width is small at the outer circumference and coincident at the inner circumference. In other words, the gap between recording tracks increases toward the outer circumference. Consequently, the margin to an off-track state on the outer circumferential track where the thermal expansion is maximum is increased to prevent the mixing of a signal from an adjacent track due to the off-track state. |
