PURPOSE:To obtain the titled remedy having low toxicity, high safety and long-acting activity to suppress the production of immunoglobulin E antibody and useful as a remedy for bronchial asthma, by using a 4H-quinolizin-4-one derivative as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective remedy contains a 4H-quinolizin-4-one derivative of formula (R is methyl or ethyl) as an active component. The compound of formula exhibits specific and selective suppressing effect against the production of antibody of immunoglobulin E (abbreviated as IgE) over a long period and is useful as an active component of a remedy for diseases caused by IgE (e.g. some kinds of bronchial asthma, rhinitis, dermatitis, anaphylaxis, etc.). In the case of using the compound of formula as a remedy for osteoporosis, it is administered by oral administration at a dose of 10-1,000mg daily for adult in the form of proper tablet, powder, capsule or by parenteral administration at a dose of about 1-100mg daily for adult in the form of injection, etc.
