PURPOSE:To permit sure and quick removal of protein from a soft contact lens by acting ultrasonic waves on the soft contact lens at the time of cleaning said lens with an enzyme cleaner contg protease. CONSTITUTION:The contact lens is immersed into a protease-contg. liquid. The ultrasonic waves are acted on the contact lens while the protease-contg. liquid in which the lens is immersed is held under the conditions under which the protease in said liquid maintains activity. More specifically, the soft contact lens to which the protein, etc., are stuck by wearing, etc., and from which said protein, etc., are heretofore not removable by the wearer's own treatment is immersed into 'HYDRO CARE F(R)' which is the enzyme cleaner contg. the protease (papain) and the ultrasonic waves are acted on the lens in this immersion state. The lens is thereafter subjected to cleaning by a conventional method using an ordinary soft contact lens cleaner. The surface of the soft contact lens piece is observed by a microscope after this cleaning stage. The above-mentioned stage is repeated if the removal of the contaminating protein is insufficient. The quick and sure removal of the contaminating protein is thereby permitted.
